Winter view of the Cat Rock trail post in the snow

My friend Howard and I first visited Cat Rock in winter. This was the view in the snow of the Cat Rock trail post, which reads "CAT ROCK, ELEV 1562 FEET." You can reach Cat Rock via the Yellow Trail from:

o top of the Old Misery Trail or

o Yellow Trail cutoff from the Catoctin Trail north of Bob's Hill.

Winter view of Cat Rock in the snow

This is the view of Cat Rock in the snow. It has a cold beauty.

Spring view of Cat Rock

In the early spring, it has a very different look, as Howard negotiates the jumble of rocks.

My friends Howard and Sebastian enjoying a panoramic view from Cat Rock

My friends Howard and Sebastian were enjoying a great view from the top of Cat Rock. This view looks down over the Thurmont Watershed, and Bob's Hill in the distance.

Black Vultures sitting on a tree branch thinking about lunch

While my friends were enjoying the beautiful panorama, these Black Vultures had a much more utilitarian take on the view ... a lunch oriented one.
