Human Impact on AT South of Pen Mar

Much of the Appalachian Trail goes through lands that were once small private farms, and evidence of those farms shows up here and there, such as this stone retaining wall not far from Pen Mar Park.
Normally, I'd be disgusted by dumping in the woods, but I wonder if this is a very old dump, not that that makes it too much better, but it does then make it a part of history. I hope there is not any current dumping on the Appalachian Trail.
Here is a bit of human impact that it more on the humorous side. I took this photo on the Appalachian Trail near High Rock in late October, and evidently someone wanted to start a little Halloween celebration early. When I came back later, this stuff was gone.
