This is a winter view of the bottom of the Old Misery Trail, located off of Catoctin Hollow Road near the dam of Hunter Creek Lake This is near the entrance to the Cunningham Falls State Park in the Falls Area.

Here is the same trailhead in summer. Note that the "Old Misery Trail" sign was removed, perhaps so it would not scare away hikers.

After hiking up and down Old Misery Trail in winter, this was the view across Hunter Creek Lake from the parking lot where the car was parked. We were glad to be off the trail before the sun went down. No swimming or boating was noted.
