Here you see my friend Howard in the snow on the Appalachian Trail stopping to admire the scenery: mountains in Virginia across the Potomac River.
Here the trail is flat, and not yet climbing up the side of South Mountain toward Weverton Cliffs.
Here the Appalachian Trail passes under a bridge carrying MD-340.
These are Queen Anne's Lace (Daucus carota) fruit clusters. They look different than what you are accustomed to seeing, because the flower is finished its role, and the fruit are starting to follow their part. The cluster will drop off and blow away, and start new plants elsewhere.
