Inside the cab of the Lafayette Inside the cab of a large steam locomotive

On the left is the control area for the fairly simple Lafayette locomotive. On the right is the engineer's cab of a steam locomotive, not only much larger, but so complex that it requires a team of highly trained crew to work together to operate it.

The controls inside the cab of this steam locomotive are extremely complex, and the crew would have required years of training to know how to operate it safely.
