Climb Aboard the Caboose

The caboose is like a house on train wheels, with every accommodation, and with a good overview of the train. This caboose is a side-view caboose, allowing the crew to keep an eye on the train from side windows without going outside. You never see a caboose on a train anymore; they're apparently consigned to the dustbin of history. At one time, though, the caboose was quite important, providing shelter for extra crew who would be responsible for keeping an eye on the length of the train, and for doing manual switching, something done automatically now.
This is the inside of a top-view caboose. The crew can sit in the elevated seats and see over the top of the train.
On long hauls, the crew enjoyed every amenity of home, with a kitchen, dining room, and living room. Life could be cushy in one of these.
At the other end of the caboose was the bedroom ... zzzzz ...
