Catoctin Mountain Range ... Cunningham Falls Park -- Manor Area ...
Visitors Center and Park Area
Click here to hike the Catoctin Trail.
Note that this shows a Catoctin Trail Up-Arrow and Down-Arrow, indicating that it will take you to a section of Catoctin Trail where you can go either toward the northern-most trailhead (up arrow, ) or toward the southern-most trailhead (down arrow, ). Which direction you start hiking the Catoctin Trail (toward the north or toward the south) is up to you.
This is the Visitor Center for the Manor Area of the park. I have never seen it open on a week-day, so I surmise that it is open of weekends.
This Turtle Pond, to the left of the Visitors Center, houses a huge snapping turtle in a natural pond-like setting. The turtle is available all week long.
This aviary houses large birds that have been injured and are being cared for by park staff. They can be viewed through the chicken wire enclosures.
Camping areas in the north end of the Manor Area are available, but must be reserved in advance on the internet.
At the southern end of the Manor Area is the beginning of the Catoctin Furnace Trail. You can follow this trail across a bridge over MD15 to get to the re-creation of the Civil War era Catoctin Furnace.
