Visitor Center for the Manor Area

This is the Visitor Center for the Manor Area of the park. I have never seen it open on a week-day, so I surmise that it is open of weekends.

Turtle Pond next to Visitor Center

This Turtle Pond, to the left of the Visitors Center, houses a huge snapping turtle in a natural pond-like setting. The turtle is available all week long.

This aviary, to the right of the Visitors Center, houses large birds that have been injured

This aviary houses large birds that have been injured and are being cared for by park staff. They can be viewed through the chicken wire enclosures.

This camping area is at the north end of the Manor Area

Camping areas in the north end of the Manor Area are available, but must be reserved in advance on the internet.

An Eastern American Toad

At the southern end of the Manor Area is the beginning of the Catoctin Furnace Trail. You can follow this trail across a bridge over MD15 to get to the re-creation of the Civil War era Catoctin Furnace.
